May 29, evening, 7 pm, the energetic, charismatic, innovative (and the list may continue) “Beijing Fireman” (Gilbert Van Kerckhove) came by subway (of course) to Peking University Global Village to speak for the Rotaract Club Beijing West in front of a 45 young people audience eager to find out the “secret” of Mister Gilbert’s success in China.
After a short presentation of Rotaract Beijing Clubs and of Rotaract next month Gala (23 June 2018) made by the rotaractor Sabrina Lachana, Gilbert took the lead and introduced us into his two main "Mission Impossible” projects: Shanghai subway and Beijing 2008 Olympics. The two projects are part of his speeches on how to do successful lobbying in China. Through his many years in China Gilbert has accumulated a deep understanding of the Chinese administration and its modus operandi, and the methodology to build a constructive dialogue. He has received the highest awards and a Green Card from the Chinese government. In 2012 he published his book Toxic Capitalism, on environmental issues. Other books are in the pipeline!
After the secrets have been revealed, a dynamic Q&A session followed where the audience was very much interested on Gilbert’s advice and guidance duo to his rich experience in China. In the last part of the meeting we asked Gilbert to play “The 12”, a small game where he had to listen to 12 words and to say another word that comes into you’re his immediately he heard each word out of the 12. For the word “China” Gilbert chose to answer with “home”, and for “Belgium” he used “vacation”. This may reflect his dedication and love for China. Gilbert is a protector, an adviser and an invaluable guidance for Beijing Rotaractors, and we have to thank him for this!
Looking forward to seeing you in Rotaract Beijing West's upcoming events! Beijing is huge, find us here:
