We live in a world where it's not just enough to take care of your immediate family, or your extended family for that matter. You should encourage your heart to the care of everyone who comes across your path. The lovely lady sitting next to me on the cab ride from a local school told me this with a twinkle in her eyes after I asked her what her philosophy in life was. She settles in her seat and continues to say, when her daughter first moved here from the UK, Ms Helen, the founder of the Migrant Children's Foundation, relied on the goodwill of people to help her daughter get settled, being new to the Country.
This is something, I'm sure we ALL can relate to this. You probably recall a stranger helping you with your luggage on a hot day, or someone offering to buy you coffee on the cruellest of winters! It could be that a student helped you settle in your dorm on your first day at your new school, or someone shared their lunch with you...one or the other, regardless we were all once the stranded and scared person new to the city or the cool and collected individual seeing a familiar expression on a newcomer who clearly needs help. Such kind acts leave a lasting and positive impression.

As a joint project for World Food Day, an invitation extended to us by the Rotaract Club of Ibicarai, Brazil, the Rotaract Club of Beijing West pooled resources together and reached out to MCF to donate around 12.9kg of food to a needy family. We met the Zhang family on the morning of October 20th, 2018, at their local school. Two delightful boys in matching jackets with the kindest of eyes and a confident girl who towered over her siblings greeted us with shy smiles and timid eyes. The looks of amazement and gratitude worn on their faces humbled both Helen and me, and one thing was certain, giving back to those with less is immensely gratifying.
